Trauma Interventions

Specialist Support for Young People Aged 12–18
At FYP Interventions, we specialise in working with young people who have experienced trauma, adversity, or emotional dysregulation that impacts their ability to engage in mainstream education. We provide high-quality, trauma interventions and trauma-informed support within our alternative provision—creating a safe and structured environment where young people can begin to feel understood, valued,
and empowered to move forward. Led by Samantha King who is a certified Trauma Informed Mental Health Schools Practitioner (TISUK), accredited by the Institute of Arts and Therapy in Schools and Education. TISUK is recognised by the Department for Education’s guidance on mental health and behaviour in schools (DfE-00327-2018) for promoting positive mental health practices. Our interventions are grounded in research, guided by relational practice, and designed to meet the unique needs of each young person we support.
Why Trauma-Informed Practice Matters
Trauma can stem from a wide range of experiences, including neglect, abuse, bereavement, family breakdown, and ongoing mental health. These experiences can deeply impact a young person’s ability to regulate emotions, trust others, focus, and thrive in educational settings.
At FYP Interventions, we do not see behaviour as a problem—we see it as communication, what is our young person’s unmet need.
Our Approach
FYP Interventions offers a nurturing, relationship-based model of intervention. We
support young people through:
1:1 Trauma interventions
1:1 Trauma-Informed Mentoring & Emotional Support
- Psychoeducation on how trauma affects the brain, emotions, and behaviour.
- Self-regulation strategies for anxiety, anger, dissociation, and low mood
- Creative expression (art, music, movement) as alternative forms of communication
- Restorative approaches to rebuild trust and connection.
- Social and emotional skill development for long-term resilience
Our provision is flexible and person-centred, designed to reduce barriers to learning
while promoting self-worth, emotional literacy, and engagement.
Who We Work With
