About Us

Samantha has over 14yrs experience working in the Youth Justice system, initially as a Residential Care Officer, before obtaining her Degree in Education in Professional Practice and working within the Educational Team at a leading Secure Unit for Children in Bristol.  During this time, she secured a position as a Specialist English Interventions Support, this then led to leading her own subject of Health & Social Care and more currently Life Skills and English NOCN/GCSE.

Samantha saw a need for specialist interventions, when supporting families and young people.  Families specifically struggling with Additional Needs (SEND), Disabilities, and Mental Well-Being. 

Too many young people navigating the complexities of their Additional Needs, Disabilities, and Mental Well-Being often meant falling through the cracks, especially during the crucial transition to adulthood (specifically failed transitions into Secondary Education). 

Witnessing this firsthand, throughout her 14-year career in Youth Justice while working in a Secure Unit for Youth Offenders, Samantha knew her experience, ability to create a change in the mindset of the young people she works with, would be a valuable transferrable skill that needed to be applied in the wider community. 

During her time working within the secure estate, her passion has always been to work as a proactive practitioner rather than reactive. Working with young people who are disaffected and disengaged, with complex issues and a multitude of contributing factors. Endeavoring to put in the interventions needed, for them to return to an educational setting. Therefore, hopefully avoiding the potential downward trajectory that can end in permanently excluded, disengagement from the community, and in some cases resulting in youth custody.

This is how FYP came to fruition, her passion for making positive changes in young people, championing each and every young person in her care to become the best version of themselves.
